As a business owner whose tagline is “Joyful wedding direction and coordination for the cottage country couple”, you could say this next wedding was somewhat of a dream.
When Hayley & Matt purchased Daisy Island in July, there was never the intention to have their wedding at it. SO many moving parts, logistical factors (segway to where I come in), not to mention a 45-minute boat ride to the mainland… was it even possible? Like all good decisions, accompanied by a glass of wine, the two headed to their favourite spot on the Island - An evening routine if you will. A rocks edge with jaw dropping views of a Georgian Bay sunset (one in which would play a significant role in their wedding day)… the answer was right infront of them. Although it seemed like a tall order, the idea grew on them and before they knew it, 25 of their nearest and dearest would soon be receiving their cottage wedding invite!
Embracing the cottage lifestyle, the day’s timeline was meant to be laidback. Guests were invited to the Island for late afternoon, greeted by yours truly to snap a quick photo, a fun personal touch we would later use (secretively) as each guest place card in the reception tent. Guests gathered in a clearing off the main dock, illuminated by Edison lights, unsure what was awaiting them. The Bride & Groom soon appeared, in lieu of tradition they entered together, gathering the troops for a review of the evening’s events. First off – the cocktail reception, where awaiting close by was a canoe filled oyster bar and unlimited amount of craft beer.
After some much-needed mingling, the group would walk in sync to the rocks edge, where the pair would exchange vows in a ceremony performed by their brothers. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow for that much anticipated sunset glow, but the proof is in the pictures that the view we received did not disappoint. A mulled cider was awaiting guests and would lead them to their next adventure – dinner! The reception tent was stunning, an inspirational blend of rustic modern aesthetic that the bride pulled from the various cabins on the Island – and who wouldn’t? Sarah Richardson designed them. Guests would enjoy dishes of Sous Vide Prime California Steaks and Ponzu Marinated Seared Ahi Tuna, an impressive display of culinary talents by Chef Darrin and his team, who not only had to prep onsite (from the mainland), but trek atleast 150 feet between the tent and main house kitchen. It was every ounce of a team effort to watch this couple and their guests embrace the beauty that is, Daisy Island.
So, cheers you two! To successfully planning an Island wedding (amidst a pandemic)– and fulfilling a dream come true for All Things Love Events.
