Brianna & Mitch were married on a Thursday in July. Yep, that’s right a weekday wedding! When given the option for the common weekend date paired with an evening meal, or an intimate brunch with their nearest and dearest, they opted for the latter.
Brianna, like myself, loves Pinterest. During our planning meetings, she showed me the most lovely ideas for her brunch spread and I quickly was invested in this vision she had so perfectly laid out before me. It was going to be a mix of sit-down and stand-up mingling, with a scrumptious line up of everyone’s favourite brunch offerings – the waffle bar being a highlight!
Brianna’s knack for details had already won me over, and so her choice of venue was the big, red cherry on top. The couple had selected one of my absolute favourite destinations to host their special day: Northbrook Farms in Orillia. I truly could not imagine a more appropriate setting to invite such an important selection of people for a “casual” afternoon.
The morning of the wedding was beautiful; the skies were bright, and the sun was shining! Brianna & Mitch’s ceremony was held at 11am - an interesting change up from the usual norm. A coffee bar greeted guests into the ceremony area, a welcome touch given the time of day, and the thoughtfulness didn’t stop there. Indeed, what hot beverage would be complete without a donut skewer! Once caffeinated, guests took their seats for a garden-side ceremony and perused the wedding program, which came in the form of a custom newspaper headlining the couple’s wedding announcement - such an imaginative and entertaining touch! The décor was subtle, with the venue’s iconic wood arbour serving as the focal point - draped in a soft white fabric with rich, cascading greenery and pops of contrasting floral. After their short and very sweet exchange of vows and formal readings, the couple was officially announced husband and wife. They snuck off to utilize the property [and the benefits of the natural lighting] for photos, while guests enjoyed some light fare, lawn games and beverages [nothing too crazy of course, it was a brunch after all!].
Guests were soon after invited into the reception tent, the décor of which also reflected the couple’s taste for elegant simplicity. Wood harvest tables lined the space, and burlap runners were dotted with trailing jars filled with seasonal florals and the aromatic smell of coffee, as [thanks to Pinterest] Brianna had the genius idea of filling the candle votives with coffee beans to pair perfectly with the brunch theme.
While a tradition-infused wedding was clearly not the choice for Brianna & Mitch, they did embrace a few signature ones such as bridal party introductions, first dances, and the oh-so-entertaining shoe game which is always a fun initiation into married life. Guests would then spend the next couple of hours celebrating, mingling, and enjoying the beautiful grounds. And when the day came to an end, like a scene out of a movie, the couple jumped into a limo and headed straight for the airport and off on their honeymoon to Greece.
Cheers to this stunning couple, who stayed true to their wedding vision from start to finish!
