Bachelor Canada takes Bala...

Ah title got you on this one eh? I won’t lie, never watched the Bachelor, and that would explain why I seemed to be the only person unaware that one of our groomsmen captured the final rose! Absolutely lovely gent, in fact the entire bridal party (parents included) fit for a stylish magazine cover… Segway to the real beauties of the day, Tristan and Jeff, our bride and groom! Two stunning individuals, beautiful souls inside and out. However not the type to really embrace titles like Mr, Mrs, Bride, Groom, Husband, Wife… Outside of the names they have been given.

Tristan, more of the laid back bride with an eye for design, and Jeff, totally at ease and cool, but a guy that cares for the logistics. So between the 3 of us and I knew we would have everything covered to make this cottage wedding a success. Now let this be an important reminder to all when planning an event in private property - know your local bi-laws. Whether this comes in the form of tent sizing, capacity limits, property changes or enhancements, parking etc., inquire about this information before signing on the dotted line. As just a couple months before the big day, we had an unexpected bi-law officer visit during one of our meetings (thankfully in advance, not on the wedding day) due to some received information from a neighbouring property. Thankfully we had all of our ducks in a row to ensure that the days plans were to code. Phew!

I was all for the (good) unplanned moments that popped up come wedding day. Jeff’s dad, surprising the couple with a toast and accompanying bottle of champagne he bought when Jeff was born, saved for this very occasion. The neighbour’s putting on a firework display, that lit up the lake like and had everyone oohing-and-ahhing! And by far the best part, cooperative weather!

Moral of the story, Private Property planning keeps me on my toes, and I likely still won’t watch the Bachelor,
