Jenna & Glenn’s Golden Hour Magic!
I had the pleasure of meeting Jenna while coordinating her best friend Allison’s wedding last October, and as I have said before, the power of connections is life changing. Allison’s day was flawless; I say without bias ;)… from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly and on schedule even despite the day’s rain, and provided the perfect “trial” for her bridesmaid, Jenna, who would be heading to the altar the following year and who had already begun pondering some onsite wedding coordination needs.
Jenna had everything planned for the day, and was now motivated to find someone to help ensure her vision would be realized and executed just the way she would do it herself… and here’s where I came in! We exchanged just a few emails here and there throughout the year, but this bride knew exactly what she wanted and how to prepare for it. I reached out to Jenna (a teacher…and a highly organized one!) to book our ‘final details’ meeting a few weeks before the wedding, and was not surprised when she turned up with all of the details outlined for me – so impressive!
The wedding day would arrive, and like many others this season, rain was a posing threat. Being back at the lovely Northbrook Farms, I knew we could hold off committing to the ceremony location until a little later in the day while we continued to monitor the radar. The early afternoon did indeed bring some heavy rain and strong winds, but the weather ultimately turned for the better and the couples’ hopes would not be dashed. The ceremony was held outdoors in the gardens where a very happy bride and groom exchanged their vows in front of 130 friends and family.
The details. Oh my, were they incredible! The selected wedding date, offered Jenna a longer engagement and boy, did she put that time to good use. From the handmade heart place cards, wedding colour painted mason jars that would serve as vessels for florals, candles, tips, and bar supplies etc. to the beautifully crafted backdrop that would illuminate the couples head table. This bride’s craftsmanship and creativity was in full evidence in the tasteful and beautiful details.
Guests raved (and so did I) about the food offered by R’ Cottage. OMG it was delicious!! The venue’s cozy ambiance was the perfect setting for this caterer to do what they do best and provide a simply delicious, homemade, fresh and locally harvested, cottage-style meal! While guests prepared themselves for round two of the buffet, Jenna & Glenn snuck outside to dance in the warm glow of Mother Nature’s beauty.
The evening was full of love, amazing food and a ridiculously flawless sunset. The highlight that most sticks out for me is the sweet tribute the bride made at the end of her speech to her rock, her best friend, her mother. This brought instant tears to my eyes (as someone who is also extremely close to her mom,) but mine were not the only wet eyes in the room. Jenna invited her lovely mom up to share a dance to the sweet sounds of Lauren Alaina “Like My Mother Does” and in an impromptu moment, other mothers among the guests joined them on the dance floor, forming a circle around them that offered such a powerful and truly beautiful image.
Jenna & Glenn you are so incredibly loved!
Best wishes on this wonderful journey as you build your new lives together xo
